On 12 December, 2014, Mr. Yin Chengwu, Political Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone, signed the China-Africa People-to-People Friendship Action project implementation agreement on enhancing community response to the Ebola epidemic with Mrs. Valnora Edwin, Executive Director of the Campaign for Good Governance (CGG). According to the agreement, the Chinese Embassy offers RMB 200,000 ( equally 32,600 USD ) to CGG for providing humanitarian relief support to quarantined homes, health workers and Ebola patients in the Western Area and Port Loko District of Sierra Leone.
Mr. Yin Chengwu stated that China-Africa People-to-People Friendship Action aims at supporting and promoting exchanges and cooperation between people's organizations, women and youth of China and Africa. In order to support the Sierra Leonean NGO's efforts in supplementing government's fight against Ebola, the Chinese Embassy decided to cooperate with CGG to implement the community anti-Ebola project. He hoped that CGG will take appropriate measures to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
Mrs. Valnora Edwin expressed her appreciation to the Chinese Embassy for supporting CGG to implement the community anti-Ebola project, and indicated that the project will help the Ebola-affected people go through difficulties and strengthen their capabilities in the prevention and control of Ebola. She assured Mr. Yin that CGG will make full use of the fund provided by the Chinese Embassy, and convey the friendly sentiments of the Chinese government and people to the people of Sierra Leone through the implementation of the project.
