In numbers To date, in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone:
24,800 mt of food delivered to 1.78 million people since the end of August 2014;
3,162 responders transported by UNHAS, with two planes and one helicopter in operation; and
29,217 m3 of cargo transported since Sep-tember 2014.
Highlight - Guinea: Inauguration of the Ebola Treatment Unit in Nzérékoré
On Saturday 29 November, the Government of Guinea and ALIMA (Alliance for International Medical Action) offi-cially opened the Nzérékoré Ebola Treatment Unit (ETU) built by WFP in Forest Guinea. The UN Special Envoy on Ebola, Dr. David Nabarro, also attended the ceremony. To finalize the ETU, WFP organized the transportation of 6mt of cargo on behalf of ALIMA from Kissidougou to Nzérékoré.
The Unit has a capacity of 100 beds and ALIMA will start its operations with 40 beds. The ETU in Nzérékoré is the first of four ETUs being built by WFP in Guinea following a request made by the Guinean government. WFP will en-sure the provision of nutritionally appropriate and diversi-fied cooked meals for patients. The health operator will receive a WFP electronic voucher to redeem the meals, prepared daily using local fresh foods and WFP nutrition products
