Sierra Leone: Ebola Virus Disease - Situation Report (Sit-Rep) – 4 September, 2014

Main highlights

 For the 3rd September 2014, a total of 47new samples were received and analysed by the CDC Kenema & South African NICD MLU Western Area Laboratory: Kailahun (18), Kenema (7), Kono (5), Tonkolili (2), PortLoko (1), Pujehun (1) and Western Area (13).Twenty-eight (28) of these samples are positive, 16 are negative while 3 suspected cases have been recommended for a second test base on their symptoms onset.(See table 1)

 Three (3) positive samples analysed by NICD MLU Lab and 2 samples requested for retest by CDC Kenema Lab have no district identification, therefore are not included in table 1 below

 The cumulative number of Laboratory confirmed cases are 1,174 whiles confirmed death is 404 with a Case Fatality Rate (CFR) based on confirmed Main highlights

 Data cleaning is on-going, therefore the figures in table 1 will keep on changing as the cleaning continuescases of 34.4%.
