Regional governments and response partners meeting at the WHO sponsored Ebola epidemic conference in Accra on 2 and 3 July have agreed on an accelerated response strategy to contain the epidemic. This will include enhanced cross-border cooperation and a regional coordination centre based in Conakry in Guinea.
Latest figures show the total number of probable and confirmed cases at over 800 with over 500 deaths. The result is awaited for a suspected case in Ghana.
A Canadian laboratory has deployed in Kailahun, Sierra leone to support the MSF isolation centre that has just been opened and which already has 38 cases under treatment.
