Summary
This revised Emergency Appeal seeks a total of some CHF 15.8m to enable the IFRC to provide the appropriate support and resources to National Societies to effectively and efficiently manage the response to the disease beyond the country level, providing a regional overview and coordination function, and a wider communication and enhanced preparedness for both the wider Africa and global contexts. More specifically, the appeal elaborates on supporting the Red Cross Red Crescent response in the deployment of response leadership, management and support; development and establishment of the necessary structures and functions to adequately fill the safe and dignified burial (SDB) coordination lead agency role taken up by the IFRC; preparedness and training of staff / volunteers and of surge capacity and systems for immediate response; development of adequate staff and volunteer safety and security systems for pre, during and post-deployment support. With a total of CHF 4,124,382 received to date, the total amount being sought is CHF 11,758,059
