Sierra Leone: Sixty-Three Survivors Discharged At Hastings Treatment Centre

Sixty-Three Survivors have been discharged at the Hasting Treatment Centre. The ceremony was held at the Police Training School Keith Lewis Hall at Hasting.

Addressing Survivors and family members, the First Lady Sia Nyama Koroma congratulated the survivors and the Medical Team at Hastings Treatment Centre for the success story

She said the success achieved at the Centre would help change the existing perception of People that are afraid to access the health facilities when they are sick, and encouraged the survivors to act as good will Ambassadors to spread the message that early detection can save life.

The Deputy Minister of Health and Sanitation II, Madam Madina Rahman lauded the medical and support staff at the Hastings Centre for the great success since the start of operation at the Centre in September and reiterated the need to devote attention for the return to normal political, economic and social life.

The Centre Coordinator, Dr. Santigie Sesay called on all Sierra Leoneans to adhere to the medical advice and that the disease is disastrous, and capable of destroying a whole community.

He said they have admitted 404 patients since the inception of the Centre and have had a cumulative of 115 deaths, 35 of them died on arrival, and registered 228 discharged case of survivors
