Highlights
• As of 09 November, the cumulative number of confirmed and probable cases of Ebola virus disease (EVD) in Sierra Leone has reached 5,368 confirmed and probable cases with a total of 1,169 deaths.
• Since May, the cumulative number of survivors discharged from Ebola treatment facilities has reached 878.
• The country’s first two Community Care Centres (CCCs) are now operational in Port Loko. More will follow in short order in the district as well as in Koinadugu.
• A new UK-funded Ebola Treatment Centre has opened in Kerry Town with a current 10-bed capacity, to be gradually scaled up to a total of 80 by the end of December.
• So far, at least 944 children have been orphaned by EVD. Partners are working on family tracing and reunification processes.
• Two helicopter routes have been established by UNMEER and UNHAS, serving the North and the South of the country 3 days a week.
• In the Western area, a quarter of Sierra Leone’s population, 100% of reported bodies are buried within 24 hours.
