Main highlights
For the 21st September 2014, a total of 112 new samples were received and analysed by the CDC Kenema Lab and the South African NICD MLU Lab-Western Area: Kenema (25), Kambia (6), Koinadugu (1), Bombali (2), Tonkolili (15), Port Loko (21), Pujehun (3), Bonthe (1) and Western Area (38). Forty-nine (49) of these samples are positive, 48 are negative while 15 suspected cases have been recommended for a second test base on the symptoms onset. (See table 1)
Six samples (3 positive, 1 negative & 2 recommended for retest) are not included in table 1 below because of missing district variable
The cumulative number of Laboratory confirmed cases are 1,745 whiles confirmed death is 502 with a Case Fatality Rate (CFR) based on confirmed cases of 28.8%.
Fifty four patients are currently admitted at the Kenema and forty five for Kailahun Isolation Unit with cumulative discharges of 374
