Main highlights
For the 15th September2014, a total of 76new samples were received and analysed by the CDC Kenema Lab, the South African NICD MLU Lab-Western Area and the Canadian Lab-Kailahun: Kailahun (8), Kenema (4), Kono (3), Tonkolili (1), Port Loko (19), Moyamba (9) and Western Area (32).Twenty-nine (29) of these samples are positive,
43 are negative while 4 suspected cases have been recommended for a second test base on their symptoms onset. (See table 1)
Two previous samples from Kono district recommended for retest are now negative
The cumulative number of Laboratory confirmed cases are 1,542 whiles confirmed death is 474 with a Case Fatality Rate (CFR) based on confirmed cases of 30.7%.
Forty- two (42) patients are currently admitted at the Kenema and forty- one (41) currently admitted at Kailahun
Isolation Unit with cumulative discharges of 329
The Red Cross (RC) Ebola case management Unit in Kenema is now functional.
