Main highlights
For the 9th September, 2014, a total of 65 new samples were received and analysed by the CDC Kenema Lab and the South African NICD MLU Western Area Laboratory: Kailahun (1), Kenema (15), Kono (5), Bombali (8), Tonkolili (5), Port Loko (5), Bo (1) and Western Area (25). Thirty-six (36) of these samples are positive while 23 are negative; 6 suspected cases have been recommended for a second test base on their symptoms onset. (See table 1)
Five (5) previous suspected pending Lab result from Kenema (2), Kono (1), Pujehun (1) & Western Area (1) that were recommended to be retested by CDC Kenema are now all negative.
The cumulative number of Laboratory confirmed cases are 1,341 whiles confirmed death is 436 with a Case Fatality Rate (CFR) based on confirmed cases of 32.5%.
Seventy Four (74) patients are currently admitted at the Kenema and fifty one(51) Kailahun Isolation Unit with cumulative discharges of 284
