Main highlights
For the 5th September2014, a total of 50new samples were received and analysed by the CDC Kenema & South African NICD MLU Western Area Laboratory: Kailahun (7), Kenema (4), Port Loko (13), Bo (1) and Western Area (25).Twenty-three ( 23) o f these samples are positive , 24 are negative while 3 suspected cases have been recommended for a second test base on their symptoms onset. (See table 1)
Three (2 positive & 1 negative) samples analysed by NICD MLU Lab have no district identification, therefore are not included in table 1 below.
The cumulative number of Laboratory confirmed cases are 1,234 whiles confirmed death is 413 with a Case Fatality Rate (CFR) based on confirmed cases of 33.5%.
Seventy-one (71) patients are currently admitted at the Kenema Isolation Unit with no report received from the Kailahun Isolation Unit.
